Killer Crush is a 10-episode interactive visual novel (with a sequel season) centering you as a freshman at the elite, mysterious Glowshade Academy. Overnight, you become the prime suspect in your roommate’s murder. As the mystery unfolds, players build trust, uncover secrets, and navigate complex relationships.

The story blends romance, suspense, and drama, borrowing beloved characters from the Coral & Cloud IP and reimagining them in an entirely new context.

The game was written and designed by me, and developed in close collaboration with editors and engineers across departments. As someone who has always been fascinated with genres and combining them, a murder mystery dating sim sounded like a dream to create.

  • I led both the creative vision and the social media marketing strategy, driving engagement and player investment through character-driven storytelling and targeted outreach. The reels that were created achieved virality, boosting visibility and long-term fan retention.

The Characters

The Characters

CORAL: Your sweet, perky next-door neighbor.

CLOVER: The acerbic wisecracker who’s more sensitive than she lets on.

CLOUD: The mysterious, aloof headmaster’s son.

Below, you’ll see how the game’s code coincides with actual gameplay using Glow’s custom engine. I quickly adapted to this code on the job, learning its logic while simultaneously developing story branches. This process highlights both my adaptability and my ability to rapidly build compelling, high-quality narratives within technical constraints.

Season Two: Afterglow

Writer & Creative Lead

Due to the success of Killer Crush, a second season, Afterglow, was developed, continuing the murder mystery while expanding on the original characters' emotional depth and relationship dynamics.

With new gameplay mechanics and heightened stakes, Afterglow builds directly on the choices players made in Season One, emphasizing the consequences of trust, love, and betrayal… after a six year time skip.

Highlights:

  • Pushed narrative branching even further, rewarding long-term player investment.

  • Introduced new characters and storylines while honoring the core cast.

  • Continued collaboration with engineers and editors while maintaining narrative control.

  • Used community feedback from Season One to shape pacing, plot reveals, and romantic arcs.

  • Developed a marketing rollout that capitalized on the first season’s momentum.
